Obituary

Robert Howard (Bob) Taylor, age 73, of Evergreen, North Carolina, passed away January 20, 2026 at Lower Cape Fear Life Care in Columbus County, surrounded by his family who loved him deeply.

Bob was born in Robeson County, North Carolina, on September 6, 1952, to the late Buddy Taylor and Martha Taylor. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather Craven Lawson, his brother Charlie Taylor, and his grandparents.

Bob was a man who believed in hard work, faith, and family. He owned and operated Buddy's Body Shop and Taylor's Auto Body, where he was known for his skill, integrity, and willingness to help others. Cars were more than a job to Bob. They were his passion. From restoring vehicles to racing them, he found joy in every project. In 1982, Bob became an IHRA Points Champion, an accomplishment that reflected his dedication, talent, and love for racing.

Bob was a faithful member of United Faith & Hope Ministry, where he not only worshiped but also helped build the church from the ground up, leaving a lasting foundation for future generations. He was also a devoted member of Britt's Volunteer Fire Department, serving his community with quiet strength and commitment. In his free time, Bob loved riding horses, working on cars, and sharing stories that brought laughter to those around him.

Above all, Bob was a family man. He is survived by his son Pastor Kevin Taylor and his wife Ytonia. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Isaiah Taylor, wife Adrianah, Hannah Taylor, and Savannah Taylor, all of Evergreen, North Carolina. He is also survived by his brother Jeff Taylor and wife Patty of Indiana. Additionally, Bob is survived by nephews, nieces, and special friends.

Those who knew Bob knew his love ran deep, his work ethic was unmatched, and his faith was genuine. The only thing he loved more than working on cars was being a dad, and the only thing better than that was being a grandpa. His legacy lives on through his family, his faith, and the church he helped build.
