Riston Bennett Smith, age 80, of Lumberton, NC passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Southeastern Health in Lumberton. He was born in Bladen County, NC on June 4, 1933 to the late Riston Bennett Griffin and the late Edna Hayes Smith. He previously worked in automobile repair. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Cox Smith. Mr. Smith is survived by two sons, Bobby Hayes Smith and Royce Wayne Smith both of Lumberton; a daughter, Rita Faye Adcox of Lumberton; a sister, Willie Ann Salkeld of Chicago, IL; and three grandsons, Jonathan Adcox, Caspar Adcox, and Justin Smith. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 4:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mark Meadows officiating. A time of visitation will follow the service at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
