Richard Berry Lewis, 83, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton. He was born in Robeson County on May 17, 1933 to the John Ellis & Mamie Simmons Lewis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: A.C. Lewis and John P. Lewis; and three sisters: Gussie Foley, Grace Heffington, and Velma Faircloth.


He is survived by his wife, Evelyn M. Lewis of the home; one daughter, Phyllis Branch and husband John Larry of Lumberton; her mother-in-law, Janie Wilson of Lumberton; two grandchildren: J.R. Branch and wife Kayla of Lumberton and Jonathan Lynn Branch of Lumberton; three great-grandchildren: Caden, Katie, and Aubrey; and several nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation will take place on Saturday, December 31, 2016, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 1, 2017, at 1:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens.
