Rhetta Bailey (Betty) Lawson, age 74 of Fairmont, NC died on Friday, October 14, 2016 at Greenbrier of Fairmont.  She was born in Robeson County, NC on December 13, 1941 in Robeson County, NC to the late Percy Bailey and the late Inez Herring Bailey Walters.  She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Rocky Bailey.

Mrs. Lawson is survived by a son Carl Lawson (Susan) of Fairmont; a daughter, Rose Herring (Tony) of Lumberton; brothers, Autry Walters (Mary) of Lumberton, Larry Bailey (Dale) of Lumberton; Bobby Walters (Judy) of Bladenboro, and Charles Walters (Kay) of Bladenboro; sisters, Martha Velix of Lumberton, Ann Long of Bladenboro, and Donna Walters of Lumberton; grandchildren, Brad Lawson, Rodney Herring, Heather Herring, and Brandon Lawson; and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Pastor Roy Britt officiating.  Burial will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.  A time for visitation will be prior to the service on Monday from 1:00-2:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton.
