Ressie Mae Carter, age 82, of Lumberton, NC, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023, at her home. She was born in Robeson County, NC to the late Winston & Bessie Carter.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Braddy Carter, Willis Carter, Willie Lee Carter, Spraulding Carter, Lacy Carter, Wildon Carter, and Stacy Carter; and her sister, Rosie Chavis.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Kay Chavis and friend, Gary of Lumberton, NC; her grandchildren, Shequila Lynn Revels of the home and Kendrick Dwayne Revels of Lumberton, NC; her great-grandchildren: Jala Alexia Oxendine, Jacobey Xzavier Brayboy and girlfriend Rylee, and Kaden Dwayne Revels; Sherry Hardin and Juanita Locklear, who were like special daughters to her, both of Lumberton, NC; Allison Mitchell, who was like a special granddaughter, and her children, Rylan and B.B., of Lumberton, NC; her special friends, Glenis Bell and James Bartley, both of Lumberton, NC; and numerous extended family, friends, and loved ones who will miss her dearly.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Floyd Memory Gardens, 3720 Old Whiteville Road in Lumberton, NC, with Rev. Mickey Carter and Rev. Graylon Mitchell officiating.
