Mrs. Rene McKnight passed away Thursday, October 21, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 27, 1950, to the late Robert Ricks and Beulah Jane Prevatte.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jimmy” Willard McKnight; twin sister, Ruth Allen; and brothers, Gene Prevatte and Billy Ricks Prevatte.

Rene worked at Alamac for 27 years. In her spare time, she loved to play softball. In her retirement years, she loved to go bowling.

Rene is survived by her son, Richard Steven Britt and wife Bridget of Lumberton, NC; daughters, Bobbie Jean Edwards and Barbara Wick and husband Michael of Apex, NC; sisters, Rachel Townsend and husband Gene of Indian Trail, NC, Alice Prevatte of Lumberton, NC, Patsy Mayers of Lumberton, NC; brother, William Robert Prevatte and wife Linda of Matthews, NC; grandchildren, Trent, Hunter, Isabella, Savanna and Morgan, as well as a whole host of nieces and nephews.

A visitation service will be held Saturday, October 24. 2026 from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM with Pastor Steve Johnson Officiating. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service at Floyd Memorial Cemetery in Fairmont.
