Mr. Redell Hunt, age 80, of Fairmont, NC went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Regency Hospital of Florence, SC.

Mr. Redell was born June 19, 1943 in Robeson County to the late Trussie Hunt and the late Lizzie Bell Oxendine Hunt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Janie Faye Ransom (March 19, 2023)and her husband David Ransom; five brothers, Dick Tracy, Shelton, Robert, Rockey, and Harry Lee Hunt; and two sisters, Louise Marshall and Effie Mae Hunt.

Mr. Redell was a devoted husband, wonderful father to ten children, a devoted man of God, and a member of Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church prior to his declining health. He worked for Converse Shoe Co. as a mechanic for thirty-six years until its closing. His greatest love was spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Jo Hunt of the home; five sons, Ardell (Tricia), Ledell, Glendell, Redell, Jr., and Rev. Timmy Hunt (Linda), all of Fairmont, NC; four daughters: Judy and Brenda Hunt, Teresa Granados (Gilberto), and Lissa Gonzales (Juan Zamaro), all of Fairmont, NC; three brothers, A.G. Hunt of Lumberton, NC, Glenn Hunt of Charlotte, NC, and D.C. Hunt of Lumberton, NC; three sisters: Hazel and Sandra Locklear, both of Lumberton, NC and Linda Epps of Florida; sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

A time of visitation will be held Thursday, August 17, 2023, from 1:00PM-2:00PM at Pleasant View Baptist Church, 198 Pleasant View Church Road in Fairmont, NC. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00PM with Rev. Ricky Burnett officiating. Burial will follow in Northside Independent Church Cemetery, 378 Circle Drive in Lumberton, NC.
