Rebecca Connor Strickland, age 91, of Fairmont, NC passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at her home.

She was born January 24 1933 in Columbus County to the late John Connor and the late Neva Brown Connor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, J.M. Connor, Howard Connor, Frank Connor, and David Connor; her sisters Ovaline Connor Heydeck and Ella Mae Connor Walker; and her loving husband, Curtis Franklin Strickland, Sr.

She is survived by her daughters Debbie Strickland Leggett (Alan), Rhonda Strickland Thompson (Bruce), and Louise Strickland Grier (Mitch); and one son Curtis Franklin Strickland, Jr, all of Fairmont, NC; six grandchildren, Al Leggett, David Thompson, Leslie Thompson Heasley, Ashley Grier, Jud Leggett, and Tripp Strickland; nine great grandchildren, Austin Heasley, Alexandria Heasley, Ethan Leggett, Rylee Martin, Bryce Thompson, Jaxun Leggett, Chase Thompson, Connor Strickland, and Kendall Strickland; a cousin who was like a sister Kay Coleman and her husband Milton; a family dog Cujo; and a host of great nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Rebecca was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She and her husband were Grand Marshalls at the Fairmont Farmer's Festival in 2016. She was an owner of the Dixie Department Store in Fairmont, worked with the Gold Leaf Tobacco Warehouse, and was an owner and operator of Strickland's Nursery and Garden Center. Rebecca loved to play Bingo, play games on her tablet, watch her grands and great grands play sports, watch baseball and basketball on television, playing cornhole, fishing, working her garden, and most of all spending time with her family.

A time of visitation will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Funeral Services, Inc. 1549 Marion Stage Road, Fairmont, NC. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 22, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Floyd Funeral Services Chapel.

Burial will follow in Floyd Memorial Cemetery, across from the funeral home.
