Mr. Ray Alan Holmes, age 55, of 1208 Saxon Ave., Lumberton, departed this Earthly world to go to his Heavenly home on Sunday, March 16, 2014. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Donna; his mother, Margaret Holmes Lee; two sisters, Nancy Holmes and Mary Sellers and brother-in-law, Steve Sellers. He leaves behind a family that loved him and he will forever be in their hearts - Ruby and Maxie Williams, Kay and Don Hicks, Gail and Robert Edwards, Libby and Lonnie Kizar, Martha and Byron Harper, Joy and H.B. Hunt, Buddy and Wanda Holmes, Rex and Ann Holmes, Ankie and Jessie Holmes; a step-daughter, Tammy Sue Davis; a brother-in-law, David Earl Branch and a sister-in-law, Florene Bass and her husband, Jim; grandchildren, Rodney, Jessica and Madison Norton, Justin Norton and Molli, and a host of loving nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. In addition, he also leaves behind a family that he and the rest of us have all come to love at Highland Acres. Thanks to each one of you for all the love and compassion you have shared. Ray enjoyed life and he lived it to the fullest. He had a loving and giving heart. He will be deeply missed and loved forever. The family will receive friends at the home on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 7:00-9:00PM. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 2:00PM at East Lumberton Church of God with Rev. Bruce Brumfield and Rev. Roger Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton. The family will also receive friends from 1:00-2:00PM at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
