Mrs. Peggy Janet Cain Prevatte, 60, of Lumberton, NC, passed away Monday, September 13, 2021, at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, NC. She was born in Bladen County, NC on October 22, 1960 to the late Malcolm Robert Cain and the late Mavis Lee Parker Cain. She was the After-School Care Director at Antioch Christian Academy.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Cain, and a sister, Helen Cain.

She is survived by her husband, Alan Prevatte of the home; her children: David Prevatte (Amy) of Columbia, SC, Sheena Prevatte of Lumberton, NC, and Shane Prevatte of the home; four grandchildren: Kirsten Hammonds, Sierra Hammonds, Dakota Hammonds, and Addison Zurcher; five brothers: Buster Cain, Freddie Cain, Thomas Cain, and Greg Cain, all of Lumberton, NC, and Willie Evans of Georgia; and two sisters, Melba Bryant (Larry) of Bladenboro, NC and Debbie Britt (Buddy) of Lumberton, NC.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Floyd Memory Gardens, 3720 Old Whiteville Road in Lumberton, NC, with Pastor Mark Meadows and Pastor Blake Dodd officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the graveside.

The family will also be receiving friends at other times at the home, 4789 Old Whiteville Road in Lumberton, NC.
