Mrs. Bernice "Peggy" Mae Locklear, age 79, of Lumberton, NC, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2026. She was born in Robeson County, NC on April 21, 1947 to the late John Allen & Betty Florence Clark.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Locklear, and a brother, Harvey Clark.

She is survived by her children, Stephanie Bergeman and John Locklear and wife Kandace; her grandchildren, Tyler and Kaylyn; 7 great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe Clark; two sisters, Hazel Hunt and Alice Faye Oxendine; along with Alex Thomas, Lance Speights, Aaron Inman, Josh Inman, Casey Hodge, Daniel "Doodle" Ivey, Michael "Tater" Ivey, Hunter Locklear, Trishan Barfield, and Brittany Strickland, all of whom she considered her children as well.

The family will receive friends and loved ones prior to the service on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 1:00-2:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel, 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Lumbee Memorial Gardens, 774 Moss Neck Road in Lumberton, NC.
