Peggy Sue Britt Horne, age 88, of Orrum, NC passed away on August 1, 2024 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Whiteville. She was born in Robeson County to the late Henry Marvin and Rochelle Lawson Britt on June 12, 1936. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Hayes Horne; and a brother, Bobby Houston Britt (Brenda).

Peggy had obtained a BA in Nursing degree and worked as a nurse at Southeastern General Hospital. She loved traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and nieces.

She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Horne (Sam Evans) of Fairmont, NC and a son, Kenneth Hayes Horne (Tracy) of Dillon, SC; granddaughters, Amber Marie Montee and Matt Gowers of Suwanee, Georgia, Kendra Briann Horne of Louisburg, NC; and six brothers: Johnny Mac Britt (Alice) of Orrum, NC, Wayne Britt (Brenda) of  Hampton, Va., Mitchell Britt of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Henry Marvin Britt, Jr. (Felicia) of Buena Vista, Georgia, Tony Britt (Marie) of Orrum, NC, and Danny Kay Britt of Orrum, NC, and Joe Luna of Oklahoma; and special friend, Hansler "Hawk" McCollum.

A special thank you to Renee Britt, Marie Britt, and Jessica Bass for the care and love they showed to Peggy.

There will be a graveside service on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Elim Baptist Church Cemetery, 645 N. Creek Rd, Orrum, NC 28369. Rev. James Graham will officiate the service.
