Peggy Britt, age 94, of Lumberton, NC passed away on January 30, 2015 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Long Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Broadwell officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton. She was born in Robeson County, NC on September 14, 1920 to the late Nathan Luther and Mary Patterson Hayes. She formerly worked as a bookkeeper for Hedgpeth Warehouse. She was a faithful member of the Lady Lions Club, and a devoted member of the Joy Group of Long Branch Baptist Church, and played the piano at church and Wesley Pines Retirement Community. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Britt; brothers, Luther "Red" Hayes and Charles "Shorty" Hayes; and sisters, Ruby Brooks, Chris Corpening, Dorothy "Dot" Cherry, and Patty "Pat" Seago. Mrs. Britt is survived by her son, Charles Britt, Jr. (Nancy) of Lumberton; a daughter, Donna L. Britt of Columbia, SC; two grandchildren, Charles Britt III (Courtney) of Raleigh, and Kristen Herring (Shane) of Waynesville; and three great-grandchildren, Charles "Charlie" Britt IV, Madelyn Britt, and Colbie Herring.
