Obituary

With grateful hearts, we celebrate the life of Pattie Sue Rowland Davis who entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 2, 2026 at the age of 91.

She was born on September 8, 1934 in the White Pond community of Robeson County, NC to the late Woodrow Rowland and the late Elsie Lee Newell Rowland.

Pattie was as a devoted Christian, faithful wife, loving mother and proud grandmother and great-grandmother whose life reflected her unwavering trust in Jesus Christ.  Her greatest joy was serving her Lord and nurturing her family.  She faithfully carried her children to church, making sure they were rooted in God's Word and surrounded by a community of faith.  She believed there was no greater gift she could give her children than a foundation built on Christ.

She lovingly sewed for her family, whether hemming a dress, making costumes for her grandchildren, mending a tear, or creating something beautiful from simple cloth, she did it with patience and care. Her "green thumb" also reflected that same nurturing spirit — tending to flowers and plants just as she tended the hearts of those she loved.  She found joy in watching all things grow.

Her kitchen was the heart of her home. Through home-cooked meals prepared with love, she brought her family together around the table. Cooking was not just a task for her — it was an act of service and affection.

She was a longtime active member of Newgate Community Church in Lumberton where she taught Sunday school, vacation bible school and sang for many years in the choir.  She was a woman of deep and abiding faith.  She prayed faithfully for her family, trusted God in every season and lived out the quiet strength of a Proverbs 31 woman.  Her life was marked by gentleness, humility and unwavering devotion.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, James Lester "Jimmy" Davis; her son, Alan Lowell Davis; her brother, John Wayne Rowland and her sister, Shelby Rowland Hicks.

Surviving are her two devoted daughters, Kathryn Teresa Anderson (David) and Donna Davis Floyd (Terry), all of Lumberton.  She was affectionately known as "Gram" to her six grandchildren, Ashley Anderson Goulet (Richard), Adrian Anderson Windham (Christopher), Jamison Alan Floyd, Kelly Floyd Atkinson (Chad), Alexander Lowell Davis (Melissa) and Drew Davis (Taylor).  She will be fondly remembered by her great-grandchildren, Reese Lee Goulet, Reagan Marie Goulet, Greyson James Windham, Adeline Victoria Windham, Elodie Laurel Windham, Ridge Floyd Atkinson, Mabel Grace Davis, Millie Jae Davis, Sutton Ellis Thomas and Harrison Lowell Davis as well as many precious nieces, nephews, extended family members and special caregivers, Mary Young, Ann Young, Crystal Hunt, Kaye Atkinson and Shannyn Clark.

A time of visitation with family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 7:00-9:00PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street, Lumberton, NC.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 11:00AM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Pastor Brian Schmidt and Pastor David Anderson officiating.  Burial will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens in Lumberton.
