Mrs. Patricia Ellen B. Byrd, age 83, of Fairmont completed her journey on this earth on Thursday, June 12, 2025 and is now living in her eternal home in Heaven.
Mrs. Byrd was born August 25, 1941 in Robeson County. In Heaven she joins her parents, Grady C. Berry and Bessie McKellar Berry; her brothers, Robert (Barbara), Thomas, Gilbert, Thad, Boyd and Duncan Berry; sisters, Minnie Lee, Doris (Earl), and Emily Margaret Berry, affectionally known as Polly and a son-in-law, Max Floyd.
She is survived by her husband of almost 65 years, Willie Paul Byrd; one son Joey(Michelle); two daughters, Kathy and Gale (Mike); two grandsons, Michael (Dakota), and Matthew; sisters-in-laws, Maudelle and Virginia; special nieces, Mary Lib and Nancy; special nephew, Billy, who were more like brother and sisters to her and a host of other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
Mama loved people, she never met a stranger. She didn't care who you were, she loved to socialize with others and she loved to talk, whether it was in the grocery store or doctor's office, it didn't matter she would find someone to talk to and make it a social event. She looked forward to going anywhere, it didn't matter where it was, she just like to go and have a fun time. Everyone loved her and she would do anything for her family.
The most special times in her life was when she was with her family, especially her grandsons who she loved to love on. She would love on anyone that she could. She loved spending time with her family, and visiting her friends and sharing whatever she had with others. She always loved buying shower gifts for new babies.
She loved her Lord Jesus Christ. She was an active and faithful member of Fairmont First Baptist Church since around 1965. She worked for Fairmont Knitting Mill for 19 years, Wesley Pines Retirement Home for 17 years. After that she was a private duty nurse for 5 years, serving two special families.
She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 1:00PM in Floyd Memorial Cemetery, 1549 Marion Stage Road, Fairmont. Family will visit with friends after the service at the cemetery.
The immediate family would like to extend an extremely heart felt thank you to all of the staff at Greenbrier of Fairmont who loved her like their own family. And also, to the fellow residents who became a circle of close friends and a source of love and support this past year.
