Ovelia Buffkin Ford, 83, of Fairmont, NC died on Friday, November 11, 2011 at Highland Acres Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Lumberton. She was born in Robeson County, NC on February 27, 1928. She was preceded in death by her parents, Flemming and Norma Bass and Ola Buffkin and husband Gaston Ford. She previously worked as a kitchen manager and for Headstart School.

Mrs. Ford is survived by two sons, Danny Ford and wife Rita and Chester Ford and wife Emily all of Fairmont; three sisters, Alfreda Grier, Norman Dale Kissam and Laura Floyd all of Fairmont; two grandchildren, Christy Leggett and husband Al and Jessica Ford; and one great-grandchild, Ethan Leggett.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 14, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Oakdale Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Ford Cemetery in Fairmont.

Visitation will be on Sunday, November 13, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Funeral Services, 1549 Marion Stage Road in Fairmont.
