Mrs. Opal Stone Fipps, age 85, of Lumberton, passed away Friday, October 12, 2018, at Glenflora Assisted Living Center in Lumberton. She was born on November 17, 1932 in Robeson County to the late Forest Stone and the late Snow Ford Stone. She worked at Tanglewood Elementary School's cafeteria for 25 years.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Leewood Fipps, and three siblings: Juanita Risen, Helen Bookman, and J.W. Stone.

She is survived by one son, Ronald Taylor of Lumberton; two daughters: Shirley Parker and husband Joe and Kathy L. Fipps, all of Lumberton; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Leo Stone and wife Betty Jean of Lumberton; and many special nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends prior to the funeral on Monday, October 15, 2018, from 10:00-11:00 AM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc. in Lumberton.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM in the Chapel with Rev. Tony Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at New Hollywood Cemetery in Lumberton.
