Oliver Hampton Rice, age 96, of Lumberton, NC, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at the Carrolton of Lumberton. He was born in Robeson County, NC on April 8, 1926 to the late Hartwell Rice and the late Charity Prevatte Rice.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his former wife, Mattie Mae Lane Rice; his late wife, Mavis Garris Rice; his brothers: Otis Rice, Raymond Rice, and Horace Wayland "H.W." Rice; his sisters: Ella Leigh Flowers, Melba Townsend, and Charlene Edens; and his stepchild, Loretta Bryant.

Mr. Rice is survived by his daughters: Annette Meshaw (John), Cheryle Willoughby (Clinton), and Tye Jackson (Scottie); his stepchildren: Clyde "Pete" Ard, Jr., Rita Mauney, Cindy Brown, Gypsy McKenzie, Renee Tate, and Calvin Ard; his brother, J.M. Rice (Linda); his grandchildren, Clintnette Groner (Jason) and Travis Willoughby; and his great-grandchildren: Kendal Groner, Nolan Groner, and Wattson Willoughby.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Thursday, April 6, 2023, from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023, at 11:00 AM at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 812 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC, with Rev. Anthony Rich officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
