Norma Ann
Duncan
Apr 9, 1939 — Dec 3, 2023
Maxton
Norma Ann Meshaw Duncan, age 84, of Maxton, NC, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at B&B Assisted Living Facility in Maxton, NC. She was born in Robeson County, NC on April 9, 1939 to the late Dewey Meshaw, Sr. and the late Agnes West Meshaw.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Duncan.
She is survived by her son, Michael "Mike" G. Stogner of High Point, NC; her granddaughter, Taylor Nichole Stogner; and her brother, Dewey Meshaw, Jr. (Susan) of Cary, NC.
Known as Ann, she worked for 40+ years as a bookkeeper and manager with McLean Wholesale and McLean Cash and Carry. After retirement, because of her love of work and children, she went back to work with the Public Schools of Robeson County where she worked another 10+ years at Peterson Elementary School in Red Springs, NC and Lumberton Senior High School, where during her own high school years she played basketball and was the band Drum Major.
She was a loyal and dedicated, loving member of Antioch Baptist Church. In her younger years she was a member of Midway Baptist Church whose land and the building of the church was donated by her grandmother and her namesake, Norma West Nance.
But, most of all, she was a strong, loving mother to her two children and worked tirelessly to always provide for them. She was both always worried but also most proud of her son Mike's career in law enforcement both in Robeson County and later in Wake County. Her only grandchild, Taylor, was the apple of her eye.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton, NC with Rev. Mark Meadows officiating.
