Mrs. Nona Rebecca Burchette Herring, age 88, passed away Friday, July 24, 2015, at Woodhaven Nursing Center in Lumberton. She was born in Robeson County on June 8, 1927 to the late Luther Lee and Ruby Estelle Parnell Burchette. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ned Ward Herring; one brother, John Frank Burchette; and two sisters: Dorothy Stephens and Frances Davis. She is survived by one son, Ward Herring (Rhonda) of Reidsville, NC; two daughters: Diane Heidenreich (James) of Greenville, SC and Marilyn Rodriguez (Raymond) of Mount Holly, NC; two sisters: Barbara Townsend of Iron Station, NC and Carol Johanson of Fort Mill, SC; three grandchildren: Donna Benfield, Dickie Smith, and Christy Pederson; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A time of visitation will take place on Sunday, July 26, 2015, from 2:00-2:30 PM at Raft Swamp Baptist Church. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM at Raft Swamp Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Mitchell Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Raft Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery.
