Niranjan "Jim" Shah

Niranjan "Jim" Shah, age 61, of Lumberton, NC, passed away peacefully at home in Raleigh, NC on Saturday, November 16, 2019. He was born in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India on March 11, 1958 to Sharada Shah and the late Pravinchandra C. Shah.

Along with his beloved father, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sangita "Sandy" Shah.

Jim immigrated from India to America in the 1980s. He lived all over the United States working at small businesses, and settled in Lumberton, NC after meeting his wife, Sangita. Since his early years in Lumberton, NC he was a big part of the local community. He owned and operated several convenience stores, gas stations, and hotel/motels in the region. Growing his small businesses contributed to the growth of his hometown. He was also an active member in the community, serving on the Lumberton Chamber of Commerce on several boards. He truly loved Lumberton and the friends who became family over 35+ years. His wish was to always leave a respectable legacy and mark on this town as a hard-working self-starter and leader.

Jim was loved and survived by his mother Sharada Shah, brother Ketan Shah, and his sister-in-law Meena Shah, all living in India. He was adored and survived by his daughter Shrujal "Susie" Patel, son-in-law Shanup Patel, his son Kimit Shah, and his daughter-in-law Dhara Shah. Jim also has 5 sisters all living in India who continue to carry on his memories from childhood.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at 11:00am at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton, NC. All family and friends are invited by the family to celebrate the life of this extraordinary man.
