Mrs. Nancy Tyner Thompson, age 77, of Lumberton, NC, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, July 28, 2023, at McLeod Health Seacoast Medical Center. She was born in Robeson County on November 15, 1945 to the late Leon A. Tyner, Sr. and Grace Parnell Askew.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Leon A. Tyner, Jr. and Benjamin Tyner, both of Lumberton NC; two sisters, Elizabeth Moore of Bradenton, FL and Mittie Jean Tyner, of Lumberton, NC; and her great-grandson, Alton Jeremy Cox, Jr. of Bradenton, FL.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Alton Thompson of the home; her daughters, Kimberly Carlile and Kelli Cox (Billy), both of Lumberton, NC; her sisters: Phyllis McIntyre of Carolina Shores, NC and Frances Miller of Chesapeake, VA; her brother, Nick Tyner (Sharon) of Salado, TX; her grandchildren: Jeremy Cox (Chelsea), Joshua Cox (Amanda), and Darren Carlile, all of Lumberton NC, SPC4 Blake Carlile (Cennovia) of Landstuhl, Germany, and Victoria Cox of Greenville, NC; and her great-grandchildren: Malachai Cox, Tilman Cox, Koda Cox, Oliver Cox, and Amber Cox, all of Lumberton, NC.

Nancy was a faithful Christian who spent many years serving in her church, working with teens and leading youth groups. She was always the loudest cheerleader for her daughters and friends - whether it was in high school, college sports, or church softball. She was a loving and caring grandmother to her five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, whom she loved to spoil every chance she got.

She was a loving woman that lit up any room that she entered. She was a radiant inspiration to her entire family and many friends. She will be missed greatly.

The family will be receiving friends and loved ones at the family home located at 1731 Long Branch Drive in Lumberton, NC.

There will be a time of visitation on Wednesday evening, August 2, 2023, from 6:00-8:00pm at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton, NC.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 3:00pm at Floyd Memorial Chapel, 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC. Burial will follow at the Rice Family Cemetery on Collins Drive in the Long Branch community of Lumberton, NC.
