Nancy Herring Starnes was born in Robeson County on April 9, 1947, the daughter of the late Joseph Herring and Fannie Mae Dean Herring. She departed this life on June 30, 2009.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Joseph Michael Starnes

She is survived by her husband, Mike Starnes of the home; a son, Michael Paul Starnes and wife, Kerry of Tabor City, NC; a daughter, Tamara Starnes of Charleston, SC; two brothers, Joseph Herring of Savannah, GA and James Herring of Sunset Beach, NC; two sisters, Brenda Scoggins of Lumberton and Kathy Walters of Sunset Beach, NC and one grandchild, Leah Starnes.

A graveside service will be Friday, July 3, 2009 at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton, NC at 11:00 A.M.

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 2, 2009 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc. in Lumberton, NC.

In lieu of flowers memorials should be sent to St. Jude\\chr(39)s Children\\chr(39)s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
