Obituary

Nancy Odum Smith, 81, of Lumberton, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on June 13, 2026.

Born on May 19, 1945, to the late Wallace and Beatrice Odum, Nancy lived a life devoted to her faith, family, and community. Known for her gentle spirit, warm smile, and kind heart, she was a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Nancy's easygoing nature and welcoming personality made her a friend to many and a source of encouragement to those around her.

Nancy faithfully served as the Secretary of First Street True Holiness Church of Lumberton, North Carolina, for more than 45 years. Her dedication to the church and its members reflected her deep love for the Lord and her commitment to serving others. She was a faithful servant whose impact on her church family will be remembered for generations to come.

Nancy retired from Southern States with over 40 years of dedicated service. She found great joy in life's simple blessings. Nancy loved tending to her flowers and spending time outdoors. She especially enjoyed watching hummingbirds and red birds visit her yard, finding beauty and peace in God's creation. Her love for nature, along with her cheerful smile and caring heart, will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Wallace Earl Smith; her brothers, Gene Odum (Minnie), Harold Odum (Glenda), Clarence "Luke" Odum; and her sister, Elizabeth Odum.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Juanita Pait (Greg) of Lumberton; her son, Anthony Smith (Pam) of Lumberton; her grandchildren, Aaron Smith, Meaghan Sampson (Justice), and Adalyn Smith; and her great-grandchildren, Jordan Sampson and Cole Sampson, all of Lumberton, North Carolina. She also leaves behind sister-in-laws Mary Smith, Hellen Wilkins, Janie Smith and Rose Odum, along with many extended family members, church family, and friends who will greatly miss her loving presence.Nancy's legacy is one of faith, kindness, dedication, and love. Though she has departed from this earthly life, the memories she created and the lives she touched will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice Care for their services and their genuine care and compassion.
