Nancy Lewis Holmes, age 57, of Danville, VA died on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. She was born in Durham County, NC on October 1, 1952 to Rufus and Margaret Ward Holmes. She was a homemaker.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Katrina Holmes and husband David Lewis, Sr.; and grandchildren, Grace Lewis and Hayden Lewis.

Mrs. Holmes is survived by her finance, Rick Thornton of Danville, VA; one son, David Lewis and wife, Becky of Maiden, NC; one daughter, Lorie Taylor and husband, Ricky of Lumberton, NC; four brothers, Buddy Holmes and wife, Wanda, Rex Holmes and wife, Ann, Ray Holmes and wife, Donna all of Lumberton, NC and Anthony Holmes and wife, Jessie of Charlotte, NC; seven sisters, Gail Edwards and husband, Robert, Joyce Hunt and husband, H.B., Libby Kizar and husband Lonnie, Martha Harper and husband, Byron, Mary Sellers and husband, Steve all of Lumberton, NC, Kay Hicks and husband Don and Ruby Williams and husband, Maxie both of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren, Candace Taylor, McKinna Lewis, Cameron Taylor, Jaylen Lewis and Brett Lewis; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at 3:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bruce Brumfield officiating. Burial will follow in New Hollywood Cemetery in Lumberton.

Visitation will be held on Sunday prior to the funeral service from 1:00-3:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton.
