Myrtle Mae Oxendine Carter, age 69 of Fairmont, passed away Thursday March 10, 2016 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC with family by her side.

She was born April 3, 1946 in Robeson County, NC. She was employed by Converse for over 30 years. Her greatest love was her children, grandchildren and her dog Fox.

A visitation will be held Sunday March 13, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 PM prior to the service at Floyd Funeral Services in Fairmont.

A funeral service will be held Sunday March 13, 2016 at 4:00 PM at Floyd Funeral Services Chapel with Revs. Ricky Burnett and Lacy Lambert officiating.

Burial will follow at McDonald Church of God Cemetery on Hwy. 130 in Fairmont.

She was preceded in death by her husband Evirt Carter and her parents Curlie and Mae Chavis; and a son Johnathan Carter.

She is survived by a son Larry Dale Carter and wife Terrance of Lumberton; a daughter, Tina Carter of the home; five grandchildren, Katrale Carter, Yasmon Carter, Madison Strickland, Jade Richardson, and Dillon Lowery; one brother, Larry Hunt and wife Evelyn of Lumberton; one sister, Mabel Pope and husband Morris of Fairmont; a special niece whom she helped raised, Elizabeth "Cookie" Hunt; two foster daughters, Michelle Richardson and husband Rich and Sheena Floyd; a step son Ricky Hunt and wife Lisha; special friends Mazie, Sherry, and Sallie Hunt; her dog Fox and her adopted pet, Mindy Lou.
