Myrtle Pait Britt, 89, of Lumberton, NC (formerly of Orrum and Ocean Isle Beach) entered into eternity Saturday, February 3, 2018 in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior following a decline in health. She was born Myrtle Lee Pait on December 22, 1928 in Bladenboro to the late Frederick Kendell and Ida Lee Pait.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, Stanley Boyd Britt; two sons: Jerry Wayne and Charles Stanley Britt; one daughter, Judy Faye Britt; two brothers: Robert Pait and Freddie Pait; and three sisters: Ida Bell Helms, Julia Johnson, and Lena Mae Davis.
Left behind to cherish her memories are her son, Kenneth Earl Britt (Kathy) of Abbottsburg, NC; daughter, Vicki Lee Britt Jones (Wilbur) of Lumberton, NC; son-in-law, James P. Britt of Orrum, NC; daughter-in-law, Myrna Lee Britt of Lumberton, NC; her many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Myrtle also leaves behind special long-time friends; Gail and Earl Hoffman, Mildred Willoughby, and Charles Brogdon.
In her spare time, Myrtle loved to sew, make dolls, sing, dance and write music and poems. She was proud to have written and set to music two songs when she was a young adult.
After 17 years of service and early retirement from West Point Pepperell (Alamac Knitting), Myrtle moved to Ocean Isle Beach with her husband where they enjoyed many years of peaceful beach living. With a love for the outdoors, Myrtle had her very own vegetable garden and flower garden in every patch of dirt imaginable. She truly had a green thumb and a passion for gardening, whether it was for vegetables, fruits, plants, or flowers.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday, February 8, 2018, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc. in Lumberton.
Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM in the Chapel with Pastor Boyd Allen Britt officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Elim Baptist Church Cemetery in Orrum.
Myrtle will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and everyone who knew and loved her. She is going home—going home.
