James Mitchell Freeman, 76, of Hillsborough passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017, at his home. He was born May 22, 1940 in Robeson County to the late James G. and Grace Freeman.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mitchell is survived by his children, Ronnie Mitchell Freeman and wife Sheila of Lumberton and Doris Freeman Smith of Winder, GA; one brother, Bradford Freeman of Lumberton; one sister, Betty Rodgers of Lumberton; five grandchildren: Danny Morgan, Dwight Smith, Jr., Samuel Smith, Matthew Freeman, and Joshua Freeman; and six great-grandchildren.

A time of visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Rev. Michael Warwick officiating. Burial will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens.
