Mr. Miles Edwin Mercer, Sr., age 97, of Lumberton, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at GlenFlora Nursing Home in Lumberton. He was born in Robeson County on September 23, 1914 to the late Nash Adams Mercer and the late Mary Young Mercer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Louise Musselwhite Mercer; his brothers James E. Mercer, N.A. Mercer and David Mercer and his sister Elizabeth Randall.

Mr. Mercer is survived by his son Miles Mercer, Jr. and wife Sandra and their daughter Anna Mercer, all of Lumberton, NC; daughter Nancy Martin and her husband James of Fayetteville, NC and their sons Brad Martin of Lumberton, NC and Greg Martin and his wife Tori and their children Gracyn and Merritt Martin, all of Elizabethtown, NC; daughter Susan Williams of Lumberton, NC; three brothers Charles Mercer of Durham, NC, Robert Mercer of St. Augustine, FL and Eugene Mercer of Lumberton, NC; two sisters Ruth Musselwhite of Lumberton, NC and Mary Baxley of Fayetteville, NC.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 2:00PM at Regan United Methodist Church in Lumberton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 1:00-2:00PM on at Regan United Methodist Church and other times at the home of Susan Williams, 3995 Regents Street, Lumberton.
