Mildred Herring Brice, age 88, of Fairmont, NC passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton, NC. She was born in Barnesville, NC on July 18, 1926 to the late Hazley Bright and Verona Lewis Herring. She previously worked in banking for the United Carolina Bank. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Fairmont having served as past Elder, and past president of Presbyterian Women. She volunteered at Southeastern Regional Medical Center and Robeson County Church and Community Center, Member of Garden Lovers Club of Fairmont, past member of Fairmont Women's Club, and the Ashpole Book Club. She was preceded in death her husband, L.B. Brice, Jr.,by brothers, Joseph L. Herring, Carl Herring, and Ned Herring. Mrs. Brice is survived by a son, Leamon Boney Brice III and wife, Renee of Davidson; a daughter, Bridgit B. Bass of Fairmont; grandchildren, Chad Stewart Brice and wife, Katrina, Kira Brice Harris and husband, Brock, and Daniel Leamon Bass; a great-granddaughter, Lilly Grace Harris; and a sister, Edna Ruth Herring Bryant, and husband Francis. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Fairmont with Rev. Ronald Hughes officiating.
