Mrs. Meredith LeRay Todd Pittman, 81, of Lumberton, NC, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at Wesley Pines Retirement Home in Lumberton, NC. She was born in Fairmont, NC on December 14, 1939, the daughter of the late George Lawrence "G.L" Todd and the late Beulah Maynard Todd.

She was a graduate of Elizabethtown High School and went on to attend The University of North Carolina at Pembroke where she attained a degree in education. She served The Public Schools of Robeson County as an educator and spent much of her career at Rowland-Norment Elementary School until her retirement.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Earnest Pittman, Jr., and two brothers, Edward Lawrence Todd and Roger Dale Todd and his wife Betsy Todd.

She is survived by her brother, James "Billy" Todd (Penny) of White Oak, NC; a sister-in-law, Iris Todd of Wilmington, NC; her nieces and nephews: Gay Shackleford (Dan) of Travelers Rest, SC, Mark Todd (Kathy) of Cary, NC, Gwen Hudson (Steve) of Willard, NC, and Melissa Todd of White Oak, NC; a great-nephew and great-niece, Benjamin Hudson and Shelby Hudson, both of Willard, NC; and three special cousins: Berniece Midgett, Frances Harker, and Peggy Ann Taylor.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton, NC, with Rev. Joe Bounds officiating.

Due to safety precautions, the family is requesting that all who attend please wear a face mask and observe social distancing.
