Mrs. Melba Lee Britt, age 75, of Lumberton, entered her Heavenly home on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.  She was born in Robeson County, NC on December 9, 1945 to the late Hugh Douglas Taylor and the late Sue Neal Britt Taylor.  She was a lifetime member of Antioch Baptist Church in Lumberton.  She loved the Lord and teaching her grandchildren about Jesus.  One of her favorite things to do was bake cakes for her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Wade Britt; her siblings, Tommy Taylor, Glenda Britt and Janet Willis and a grandson, Chase Maxwell.

Left with her memories are her children, Susan Rice (James), Paula Freeman (Brent), Charles 'Chad' Maxwell (Ashley) and Jonathan Britt, all of Lumberton; a sister, Nancy Fields (Eugene) of Lumberton; two aunts, Eunice Barr of Lumberton and Allene Johnson of Bladenboro; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; eleven nieces and nephews and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews and a best friend, Melva Lebrun.

The family will receive friends at the home of Charles Maxwell, 170 Brigman Drive, Lumberton.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 2:00PM at Taylor Family Cemetery with Rev. Tony Stevens officiating.

In lieu of flowers, family would appreciate assistance with funeral costs.
