Melanie Smith Harvey, 52, of Lumberton, NC, passed away Monday, April 28, 2025, after an extended illness.

Melanie was a loving wife, devoted mother, caring nurse, and wonderful friend.  She loved and enjoyed many things, but she truly enjoyed traveling, going to the beach, and swimming. She was an avid Disney lover; her favorite song being "I Can Show You The World" from Aladdin .

Melanie was a beautiful woman with all intentions to make the world a better place. She loved every child as if they were her own. Every child, friend, and family member will remember her as one of the most thoughtful people on this planet.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Smith.

She is survived by her husband of twenty-eight years, Laurence Harvey of the home; her mother, Mary Smith of Lumberton; seven children: Jesse Harvey, Cameron Harvey, Ivelesse Harvey, Daisy Harvey, and Luke Harvey, all of Lumberton, NC, Laurence Harvey II of Raeford, NC, and Heather Gillian of Madison, AL ; a brother, Charles Keith Smith of Lumberton, NC; a niece, Megan Curry (BJ); and two nephews, Caleb and Trent Cooper.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Floyd Memory Gardens, 3720 Old Whiteville Road in Lumberton, NC, with Pastor Herbert Lowry officiating.

The family will receive friends at 301 West 33rd Street in Lumberton, NC.
