Mearl Hunt, Jr., age 65, of Fairmont, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014, at his home. He was born in Robeson County on July 7, 1949 to the late Mearl Hunt, Sr. and Willa Hunt. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Dusty Hunt, three brothers, Cleveland Hunt, James Howard Hunt, and Arthur Dean Hunt, and one sister, Gail Hunt. He is survived by two sons: Mearl Hunt, Jr. and Rusty Dean Hunt, both of Charlotte; three brothers: Johnny Hunt and wife, Ann, of Fairmont, Robert Hunt and wife, Dolores, of Lumberton, and Bobby Hunt and wife, Mary Sue, also of Lumberton; three sisters: Judy Hunt of Lumberton, Lisa Britt and husband, Allen, of Lumberton, and Shelia Barksdale and husband, Curtis, of Fairmont; one grandson, Dustin Hunt, a special cousin, Pearl Dial, a special nephew, Parker Hunt, a special niece, Barbara Whitener, and a special friend, Pee Wee Canady. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015, at 7:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the chapel.
