Mattie Neal Stubbs Grooms, age 90, of Lumberton, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton.  She was born in Robeson County, NC on January 14, 1934 to the late Johnny Stubbs and the late Janie Beasley Stubbs.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Grooms and her daughter, Sherry Grooms.

She is survived by her son, Allen Grooms (Vickie) of Lumberton; six grandchildren: Billy Grooms (Brooke) of Lumberton, Melissa Grooms of Lumberton, Heather Grooms of Orlando, FL, Johnny Grooms (Kimberly) of Fairmont, Joey Grooms (Audrey) of Lumberton and Amber Hyatt (Philip) of St. Pauls; eighteen great-grandchildren: Zeke, Makenzie, Paxton, Mila, Declan, Kelsey, T.J., Marissa, Felicity, Zabriel, Isaiah, Kyleigh, Nicholas, Jayden, Jacksen, Colten, Logan and Kennedy; two great-great-grandchildren, Preston and Owen; and a special friend, Beverly Suggs of Lumberton.

A time of visitation will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 from 11:00AM-12:00PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street, Lumberton.

A funeral service will follow on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 12:00PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton with Rev. Jeff Broadwell officiating.  Burial will follow at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.
