Mary Edna Jones Wilkes, age 82, died on Thursday, December 24, 2009 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton, NC.

Mary Edna was the daughter of the late David Herring Jones and Lillian Townsend Jones. She was the wife of the late Gus Lee Wilkes. She is survived by three children: Robert H. Wilkes (Gayle) of Orrum, NC; Edna Lee Smith (Tom) of Spartanburg, SC and Mary Lea Lawson (Jerry) of Lumberton, NC; five grandchildren: Anthony R. Wilkes and Beth L. Wilkerson (Darrell) of Orrum, NC, Sherry L. Katzenberger (Jake) of Hope Mills, NC, Kevin Smith (Katie) of Easley, SC and Jerry W. Lawson (Trisha) of Lumberton, NC; and eight great-grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Ten Mile Baptist Church in Lumberton with the burial following at the cemetery at Ten Mile Baptist Church. The family requests that you join them for fellowship and refreshment after the service at the Fellowship Hall.
