Mary "Nuke" Hunt Chavis, age 77, of Fairmont, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2022. She was born on January 2, 1945 in Robeson County to the late Dudley Hunt and the late Ida C, Hunt.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Chavis; four sisters, Rebecca J. Sampson, Linda F. Locklear, Kathy H. Norton and Mattie Locklear.

Mrs. Chavis is survived by two sons, Craig Chavis and wife, Dora Lee, of Rowland, NC and Brian Chavis, of the home; one daughter, Amy Lowery and husband, Cale B. Lowery of Fairmont, NC; one sister, Patsy Hunt of Pembroke, NC;  two grandchildren, Caitlin Chavis and Cale Tacoby Lowery; one great-grandchild, Zane Riggle, and a great host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family would also like to thank Wanda Blue, Peggy Clark, and Justine Hall for all the kind deeds you done for their mother. Also a special thank you to Gibson Cancer Center, Liberty Home Health and Southeastern Medical Equipment for all your services.

A time of visitation will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Funeral Services 1549 Marion Stage Rd. Fairmont.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Reedy Branch Baptist Church, Fairmont, with Rev. Hilton Woodell officiating. Burial will follow in the Reedy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
