Mary Genevieve McDonald Stone ("Jean"), passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2020, at the age of 89. Jean was born in Bryant's Cove, Newfoundland, Canada on May 6, 1931. She was a graduate of Immaculate Conception All-Girls School and the St. Clare's Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in St. John's, Newfoundland.

Jean married the late Walter H. Stone (retired, NC Dept. of Transportation) on February 12, 1956 in Lumberton, NC, where they made their loving family home. Jean retired as a registered nurse from the children's clinic after decades of loyal service caring for many newborns and their mothers. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she will be lovingly remembered for her warmth, compassion, and loyalty to her husband, children, grandchildren, and community. She was also a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lumberton, NC.

She was predeceased by her husband, Walter H. Stone; her daughter, Michealle Angela; and her siblings: Jim, Agnes, Irene, and Vera.

She is survived by siblings: Kevin, Alicia and Sheila; and her two children, Julie Lynn and Walter; and four grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton, NC.
