Ms. Mary Hunt Chavis, age 90, of Fairmont, NC passed away Friday, September 13, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born August 1, 1934 in Robeson County to the late Plummer Hunt and the late Eula Hunt.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James "Pete" Chavis; a daughter Elaine Chavis and one grandson, Nicholas Wayne Oxendine; four brothers, Edward, Alfred "Zoo Bug," S.M. "Snook," & Cardale "Tooman" Hunt; three sisters, Dula "Tee" Kuehmichel, Velma "Mummy" Strickland, "Pee-Dic" Hunt.

She leaves behind two sons, Barney Chavis and Michael Chavis, both of Fairmont, NC; three grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held Monday, September 16, 2024, from 1:00-2:00 PM at Floyd Funeral Services, 1549 Marion Stage Road, Fairmont, NC. Funeral services will immediately follow in the chapel at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Fairpoint Baptist Church cemetery, across from the funeral home.
