Marthaleen Evers Kirby, age 74, of Lumberton, NC passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026.

Marthaleen was born on February 25, 1952 to the late David Evers, Jr. and Alice Bullard.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, David Evers, Sr. and Rosa Lee Evers and maternal grandparents, H.T. Bullard and Retha Bullard; her brother, Charles Evers; nephew, Noel Bryan; two nieces, Mary Alice Berry and Virginia Carol Locklear; sister-in-law, Brenda Evers and brother-in-law, Jerry Wayne Berry.

Left to cherish her memories is her husband of 54 years, Trent Kirby of the home; two sisters, Blendia Berry and Alice Faye Bryan (Bennie) both of Lumberton; three nephews, Benjaman Bryan (Precious), Arnaze Bryan, and Jerry Wayne Berry II; two nieces, Katherine Lewis (Johnathan) and Hilda Lopez (Marco); several great-nieces and great-nephews; two special great-nephews, Jacobe Love and Dalton Shockley and a great-great-nephew, Greyson Shockley and great-great-niece, Paisleigh Shockley.

A time of visitation will take place on Thursday, April 23, 2026 from 2:00 – 3:00 PM at East Lumberton Baptist Church, with the funeral to follow at 3:00 PM.

Burial will follow at Evers Family Cemetery.
