Marlene Ellen Chesner, age 72, of Lumberton, NC died on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton.  She was born in Olean, NY on April 5, 1945 to the late Vincent and Genevieve Balcerzak Kwiatkowski.  She was a graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing.  She worked as a nurse at St Francis Hospital and later became an orthopedic LPN.

Mrs. Chesner is survived by her husband of 52 years, Donald Chesner of the home; daughters, Dr. Constance Mulroy (Thomas, Jr.) of Lumberton and Patricia Smith (Chris) of Lumberton; sisters Joyce Suchora (Robert) of Olean NY and Ruth Suchora (Richard) of Allegany, NY; three grandchildren, Matthew Smith, Kaelan Mulroy, and Aidan Mulroy; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with Father Zacharie Lukielo Tati ​ officiating.  A time for visitation with the family will be held following the funeral mass at the home of Patricia Smith, 5106 Willow Oak Drive in Lumberton.
