Obituary

Mr. Mark Lynn Forrester, 64, of Wilson, NC, went to his heavenly home on the morning of Wednesday, November 30, 2022. Mark was born in San Antonio, TX on April 20, 1958 to the late Rev. Paul Forrester and Shirley Ann Holmes Forrester, both originally from Alabama.

The morning after Mr. Forrester graduated from Bladenboro High School in June of 1976, he boarded a bus to join the U.S. Navy where he served until 1992. Mark was a machinist mate with an expertise in cryogenics. He was afforded the opportunity to travel to many countries during his military tenure.

Once returning to civilian life in the 90s, Mr. Forrester was called to be a Baptist minister, blessed to be ordained by his father. He had the pleasure of serving as a pastor of Friendship Baptist Church (Garland, NC), Pinecrest Baptist Church (Andrews, SC), Cedar Grove Baptist Church (Lumberton, NC), and Lennon's Crossroads Baptist Church (Evergreen, NC).  He also served at Sims Baptist Church (Sims, NC) for a short time while attending Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC.

Mark was a jack-of-all-trades. Beyond his time as a minister, he was an HVAC technician and troubleshooter for Cross Heating & Air in Elizabethtown, NC, and just recently retired from Performance Heating & Air in Wilson, NC. He also was once a prison guard in Fountain, NC.

Mr. Forrester leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 39 years, Glenda Lee Gressett Forrester (originally from Suffolk, VA); his son, Major Brandon Forrester, U.S. Army, and wife Rachel, currently stationed in Colorado; his daughter, Monica Chavis (Hank, Jr.) of Pembroke, NC; three amazing grandchildren: Reese Chavis, Hank Chavis III, and Gavin Forrester; and a loyal furbaby named Spanky.

Mark is also survived by his mother, Shirley Forrester of Bladenboro, NC; two brothers, Victor Forrester (Tina) of Bladenboro, NC and Kim Forrester of Richmond, VA; his sister, Candy Sternthal (Tom) of Bladenboro, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and loved ones prior to the service on Monday, December 5, 2022, from 6:00-7:00 PM at Northside Baptist Church, 898 Sunset Park Road in Bladenboro, NC. Following the visitation, the family will hold a memorial service at 7:00 PM.

A private family burial will be held at a later date.

No food or flowers are necessary. Friends and loved ones have asked about commemorations to Mark's life -- any monetary donations bestowed to the family will be used to aid in funeral expenses. The family truly appreciates all of your acts of kindness.
