Marie Elaine Paz, aged 76, of Lumberton, died on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, NC.

Marie was preceded in death by her late husband, the love of her life, Douglas Robert Shipman, as well as her parents, Arthur and Mary Ballew; her four brothers, James Herbert Ballew, Paul Gary Ballew, Fredrick Arthur Badgero, and Ronald Luthur Ballew, as well as one sister, Mary Elaine West Stuart.

She is survived by two sisters, Beatrice Keller of Monroe and Mary Carrol and her husband Bill of Asheville; three sons, Sandy Raymond West and his wife Janet of Burnsville, John Arthur West and his wife Jennifer of Bakersville, and James Kevin West and his wife Sherry of Rockingham; two daughters, Sandy Marie West and her husband Gene and Pamela Snyder and her husband Ronnie of Lumberton; and 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, including one special great-grandchild, Ava Jean Brayboy.

In her spare time, Marie loved to crochet, as well as work with all kinds of flowers. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her.

There will be a graveside service held on Friday, the 9th of May, 2025, at Green Hills Cemetery, located at 25 New Leicester Hwy in Asheville, NC.
