Obituary

Margaret Louise Stantliff Walton Tyner, 86, of Lumberton, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026, surrounded by some of her precious family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert Theodore Walton; her husband, Joseph Harold Tyner; and her beloved daughter, JoAnn Walton Tyner Rico.

She was born on September 13, 1939 and was the daughter of the late Carl and Ila Stantliff.

Louise retired from Eckerd Drugs where she faithfully worked for many years. She found joy in life's simple pleasures and was happiest spending time with those she loved. Sunday lunches at her home became a treasured family tradition, where she welcomed everyone around her table with a home-cooked meal.

She enjoyed fishing, visiting local town festivals, and, although she was happiest at home, she would occasionally agree to a family trip with a smile. Those who knew her best described her as a quiet, gentle soul who preferred the comfort of home and the company of family. Her greatest legacy was the love she had for her family. She will be remembered for the meals she lovingly prepared, the memories made around her table, and the quiet, steady presence that brought comfort to those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.

She is survived by her son, Hardy Walton and wife, Tammy; two sisters, Rachel Bergh and husband, Fred, and Barbara Strawn and husband, Ben; grandchildren:  Meagann Spivey and husband, Adam, Chris Walton and wife, Alison, Courtney Bryant and husband, CJ, Christopher Porter and wife, Amanda,  Brandon Tyner and wife, Crystal, Austin Walton and wife, Savannha, and Bobby Walton and wife, Kellie; great-grandchildren: Hanna Spivey, Garrett, Trent and wife, Mariana, Kadance, Eli, Hunter, and Piper Walton, Taylor and husband, Morgan Brock, Kaitlin Brixey, Layla and Ian Porter, Phoenix and Archie Tyner, Nicholas and Harper Walton, and Jaxson Walton; and great-great-grandchildren, Jack Walton and Wyatt Brock. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom she held so dear and loved so much.
