Margaret Pittman Stephens, 87, departed this life Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at her home. She was born May 3, 1936 to the late Rowland Pittman and Dessie Bennett Pittman.

Margaret was a Sunday school teacher at Singletary Baptist Church for many years. She loved the Lord and devoted most of her time singing and witnessing for the Lord. She retired from the school system as a cafeteria manager. She always had a smile for everyone.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Edward Stephens, Jr; 5 brothers, Rowland Pittman, Jr., Worth Pittman, Alfred Pittman, Emory Pittman, and Jerry Wayne Pitman; as well as 2 great-grandchildren,  Princeton Damontae Hawkins and Avaleigh Joyce Hawkins.

Left to cherish her memories are her son, Gary Parnell (Sherry); her daughter, Tammy Willoughby; 3 grandchildren:  Steven Brisson (Holly), Angela Emanuel (Sydney), and Natalie Parnell; 3 great-grandchildren: Trevor Parnell, Evelyn Joyce Emanuel, and Abigail Brisson; 2 brothers, Murray Pittman and Kenneth Pittman; and 1 sister, Louise Britt, and many nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 2:00-3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM at Singletary Baptist Church, 4061 Singletary Church Road in Lumberton, NC. Burial will follow in the church's cemetery.
