Marcus "Mark"
Shane Hunt
Jun 11, 1978 — Apr 14, 2022
Fayetteville
Marcus "Mark" Shane Hunt, 43, of Fayetteville, NC, peacefully passed into heaven on Thursday, April 14, 2022, after a brief illness. Mark is now with the family and friends that went before him. Mark was born in Robeson County, NC, on June 11, 1978 and lived in Fairmont until he moved to Lumberton in 1987. Mark spent his last years in Fayetteville.
Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents: Preather & Ester Mae Hunt, Daniel & Nadyne Locklear, and Charles & Mary Troutman; his brother, Kelvin Jacobs; and his aunts and uncles: Mary Lee, Elsie, Benny, Kenny, Terry, Jerry, and Randy.
Mark is survived by his parents, Richard & Debbie Hunt Troutman and Michael Locklear and his sisters, Tasha Troutman (Brian) and Lindsay Lowry (Evan). Mark had a special love for his nephews, Dylan, Kole, and Gavin, and his niece, Cora. He is also survived by his aunts: Lora, Tricia, Edith, Vickie, Debbie, and Charlene, and his uncles: Ronnie, Rickie, Greg, Mickey, Marcus, and Mitchell. He also had many lifelong friends whom he loved like family, including Bill McMillian, Ericka Locklear, Bryan Locklear, and Anita Jackson. Mark's kindness and generosity extended to his canine family and, without a doubt, Mark was met at the Rainbow Bridge by his rescues: Luther, Roscoe, Ethel Mae, Ida Mae, Buelah Mae, Maedean, and Elvira.
Mark graduated from Lumberton High School in 1996. As a result of his academic excellence, he was included in the national "Who's Who Among American High School Students". Additionally, Mark attended several colleges, resulting in several degrees and professional certifications. He formerly worked for the U.S. Postal Service and for many years at Southeastern Regional Medical Center as a medical records coder.
For more than 21 years, Mark was a part of Rob and Margaret's family and in Margaret's last years, he became her primary care provider and her closest friend and confidant. Affectionately, he also became "Uncle Mark" to all their grandchildren. Now, along with his family, Mark has been reunited with his special friend, Margaret.
Mark's favorite things were times with family including family vacations to the NC mountains, family gatherings in Las Vegas, various cruise ship adventures, and trips to Seagrove to add to his pottery collection.
He held a special place in his heart for Dylan, his first nephew. Mark shared in Dylan's successes and was always available to Dylan. Mark looked forward to Dylan's college graduation and career choices. With Kole, the nephew with the "old soul", Uncle Mark enjoyed learning and sharing knowledge of antiquities and collectibles. The birth of Lindsay and Evan's twins, Gavin and Cora, in June 2021 added unbelievable joy to his life and he spent hours bragging about them to everyone, even strangers.
Mark will be missed and mourned forever but he will never be forgotten. His impact on family and friends will ensure his name continues to be spoken and his memory kept alive.
The family will receive friends and loved ones prior to the service on Thursday, April 21, 2022, from 2:00-3:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel, 809 E. 5 th Street in Lumberton, NC. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM with Rev. Gary Rowe officiating.
