Makenzie Leigh Norton, age 17, of Lumberton, NC, died Sunday, October 24, 2021. She was born on March 7, 2004. Makenzie's life was cut short but her time here on earth was full of happiness.

She is survived in death by her mother, Erica Cooper of the home, and her father, Michael Lee Norton of St. Pauls, NC; three brothers: Gavin, Luke, and Jaxon Norton; one sister, Emory Norton; her maternal grandparents, Bobby & Renee Regan and Ronald Cooper; her paternal grandmother, Sherry Britt; her maternal great-grandmothers, Judy Britt and Bertha Cooper; her paternal great-grandmothers, Josie Britt and Annie Neal Cummings; her aunts and uncles: Josh & Rhonda Willoughby, Brandon & Lesleigh Norton, Brad & Brooke Norton, Adam Norton, and Forrest & Crystal Cooper; and a host of cousins and friends and a very special friend,  Josh Huggins.

She was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandparents, Donald N. Britt & Henry D. Cooper, and her paternal grandfather, Michael Norton.

Makenzie was a senior at Fairmont High School. She loved her friends more than anything; she was such a social butterfly with a smile always on her face. She was such a responsible and modest young lady. Makenzie loved her car, which she named "Fiona". She loved to ride around and hang out with her friends and enjoyed Snapchatting with her friends. She loved good coffee and to keep her nails done.

Most importantly, she loved her mother. They had a very special and close bond. They loved spending time together and riding to the beach or Fayetteville for short day trips.
Makenzie will always stay with us through our memories. We will continue to see her in the things and people she loved.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Thursday, October 28, 2021, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Broad Ridge Baptist Church in Orrum, NC.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Broad Ridge Baptist Church, followed by a graveside celebration at the Britt Family Cemetery.
