Mr. Luther Daniel Hayes, age 94, of Lumberton, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2011 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. He was born in Dillon, SC on January 7, 1917 to the late William D. Hayes and Caroline Allen Hayes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Newton Hayes; seven brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Hayes is survived by his daughter, Lynda Hayes Howell of Elizabethtown, NC; two grandchildren, Joseph Neill Howell, Jr. and wife, Cindy and William Warren Howell and wife, Gia and three great-grandchildren, Lauren Grace Howell, Bailey Howell and Luke Howell.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 11:30AM at East Lumberton Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Hicks officiating.

A time of visitation will be held prior to the service at the church from 10:30-11:30AM.
