Lucille Oxendine Burgess, age 71, of Fairmont, NC passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born August 30, 1952 in Robeson County to the late Clyde and Esther Oxendine Smith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Justin Burgess; her maternal grandmother, Ms. Callie Jane Hunt; her paternal grandparents, Savage and Lucy Ransom Oxendine; three sisters, Marilyn Oxendine Scott, Glenda Ruth Oxendine Foeller and Margaret Knight; six brothers: Anthony Wayne Oxendine, Kenneth Oxendine, Jerry Oxendine, Sr., Lloyd Ray Oxendine, Eric Oxendine, and Baby Boy Oxendine.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Kevin Burgess (Rachael) of  Pensacola, FL and Dylan Burgess of Fayetteville, NC; four sisters: Helen H. Cook of Fayetteville, NC, Geraldine Oxendine of Fairmont, NC, Linda O. Maynor (Timmy) and Jeanette O. Ramirez (Victor] both of Rowland, NC; one brother, Melvin Gerald Jacobs of Myrtle Beach, SC; two adopted sisters, Florence McGirt and Lenner Ann Campbell, both of Lumberton, NC; a sister-in-law, Patsy Robertson of Columbus, MS; four grandchildren: Kevin Burgess, Jr. of Michigan, Isaiah and Destiny Burgess of FL, and Bradford Myers of Fayetteville, NC; one great-grandchild, Lanae M. Burgess of Michigan; special friends, Helena Varis, Hattie Thompson, Annie Lois Oxendine, and Sam McNair; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A time of visitation will be held Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 2:00-3:00 PM at Pleasant View Baptist Church, 198 Pleasant View Church Road, Fairmont, NC. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 3:00 PM.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
