Lois Ann Hayes, 81, of Lumberton, passed away peacefully Monday, February 12, 2024.

Lois will always be remembered as the epitome of southern hospitality, a lover of people and animals. She loved to be a caregiver to people who were shut in and caring for the homeless animals. She will be remembered for her beautiful singing voice, which she used singing in the choir.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lincoln Carlyle Hayes; her daughter, Cathy Lynn Hayes; and her parents, Archie Mitchell, Sr. and Lois Green.

She is survived by her brother, Ralph Mitchell and wife Kathy of Durham, NC; her sisters, Faye Goss of Durham, NC and Janice Cangus and husband George, also of Durham; and other family and a host of friends.

Entombment will take place on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Gardens of Faith Mausoleum, 5190 N. Fayetteville Road in Lumberton, NC with the Rev. Charles Brust officiating.

The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Autumn Care Nursing Facility of Fayetteville for their excellent service for 3 years. And a special thanks for the care and attention by Katrina Davis, a longtime friend, whom she loved dearly and was also loved dearly by Katrina.
